Glo Lights Up Nsukka With Laffta Fest

*A popular comedian, Basketmouth performing at the event

It was a night to remember as dignitaries from all walks of life came together last Sunday in the Nsukka, Enugu state to savour a night of unlimited fun when the trail blazing network, Globacom berthed in the University City with its acclaimed entertainment package, Laffta Fest. It was a night which will continue to resonate in the minds of the mammoth crowd that witnessed the show, and indeed the entire residents of the hilly community and its environs for a long time to come. 
In the all night show which held at the prestigious Millipat Hotel, Nsukka the ecstatic crowd were treated to an unforgettable flow of music, comedy and latest dance steps by some of the best acts in the Nigerian entertainment industry.  
There was Terry ‘’G’’, the new kid on the block and a delightful watch on stage. There were also Flavour, Africa Rapper No 1 and the effervescent Edris Abdulkareem,
Mr. Lecturer. Comedians Basketmouth and Okey Bakassi anchored the ‘wet’ night which also paraded Klint D Drunk and other local stars like Peggy, who performed a daring solo dance act that is easily of world class. Others were the famous MC Love and Comedian 2 Dey Talk, whose localized jokes sent the audience into wild laughter.
Glo Laffta Fest is an uncommon extravaganza of music, comedy and dance, designed by Glo to reward and delight its teeming loyal subscribers, across the country. The Nsukka show is the first in a long list of locations, planned for the weekly event which moves to the coal city of Enugu, this week end.
Globacom Head of East 1 Territory, Dr. Prince Dimkpa, said in his remarks at the event that the Glo Laffta Fest “is a free show organized by Globacom to say thank you to the good people of Nsukka and environs for their continued patronage over the years”, noting that the leading telecommunication company decided to bring the show to the university town “so that our ever-busy members of the university community can take time to unwind in an atmosphere of fun and entertainment as we realize that all work and no play makes jack a dull boy”. 
In his reaction, Hon. Onyema Idoko, who came in company of Professor Anthony Attama of University of Nigeria Nsukka, commended the network, for giving back something to the people. “It is not every time that you charge your customers for service; there is what is called social responsibility and that is what Globacom has done here tonight’’, he said. 
Hon. Idoko noted that the show is a befitting 10th anniversary gift to the people and urged other networks to ‘’give out the huge profit they make from the environment’’.
Side attractions in the highly interactive package included dancing and singing competition in which prizes such as handsets, SIMs and Recharge cards were freely given out to lucky winners. Attendant was free and cut across the youths, academia, the police, the army and the business community.
