Airtel Nigeria Launches 3.75G Service

Airtel Nigeria has taken a significant step to deepen its network capacity and quality as it announced the roll-out of 3.75 Generation (3G) services across the 36 States in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The company believes that with this launch, it is set to boost customers’ experience with high speed mobile broadband and Internet access, empowering telecoms consumers to watch live TV, download music, make video calls as well as send and receive emails using enabled devices.
However, there are doubts over the company’s capacity to offer data services in all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory as it stated that it can currently offer 50% of data services on its network and would move up to 70% soonest.
At the 3.75G service launch, Airtel also announced up to 50% bonus offer on purchase of any of its data plan bundles; free 2GB on purchase of data dongle and a free one month subscription for BlackBerry users who activate a two-month plan. New customers on the network will enjoy a bonus N100 airtime on any recharge from N100 and above, plus complimentary 10MB data valid for seven days.
Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Rajan Swaroop said at the launch that the telco has yet again raised the bar in its quest to
